Special Care Unit
FitzRoy Hall is a 14 bed special care unit for residents with
Alzheimer's Disease or related dementias. The unit is named in
honor of the late Don and Marie FitzRoy, Mr. FitzRoy was a charter
board member of the corporation and longtime benefactor of our home.
The purpose of the unit is to provide a safe, structured environment
for residents suffering from dementia to enable them to function at
their highest level. The unit is a locked wing of our facility,
minimizing the risk of elopement from the home while allowing the
residents to move about freely. A fenced courtyard allows the
residents to spend time outdoors when the weather permits.
The activities in the unit are geared toward individual preferences,
and are usually conducted one on one or in small groups. Because
the unit is only 14 beds, residents receive more individual
attention than in much larger units.
