SNH Board Of Directors
( SNH Board of Directors )

In the early 1970's, a group of local citizens recognized the need for a long term health care facility in Stockton.  In 1973, this group obtained a corporate charger with bylaws that would create a very unique ownership structure for the new nursing facility.  Anyone who donated $100.00 or more to the corporation and had their application for membership approved became voting members of the corporation.  This vote allowed them to elect representatives to a volunteer board of directors who oversaw the corporation and the operations of the nursing home.

The initial membership drive resulted in more than 250 memberships that raised the initial capital necessary to secure loans to construct the facility.  Although those original loans have long been retired, there will always be a need for a strong membership base.  This membership ensures  that our home remains in control of the people we serve, our community.

In order to become a member of Stockton Nursing Home, Incorporated, interested persons should request an application for membership by calling our home at 417-276-5126, in writing at P.O. Box 910, Stockton MO 65785, or in person at 811 Owen Mill Road, Stockton.  The application should be completed and returned to us with the one-time membership fee of $100 or more payable to Stockton Nursing Home.  The application will be reviewed at the regular Board of Directors meeting held the fourth Tuesday of each month.  Stockton Nursing Home is listed with the IRS as a 501-C3 charitable organization, and all donations to Stockton Nursing Home may be considered tax deductible.  A donation of $100 entitles a husband and wife to one membership vote.  A donation of $200 or more entitles them each to a vote.  Memberships are non-transferable.

As a corporation member, you are indemnified from any liability that may arise from the facility operations.  The officers and directors of the Board of Directors are protected through liability insurance carried by the facility.

All financial proceeds from memberships are placed in a special fund to be used for special resident projects.
